Will the meet at New Delhi attract investors to Odisha?

Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik attended the day-long Investors’ Meet in New Delhi today. Hon’ble Minister, Industries, Shri Ananta Das; Chief Secretary, Odisha, Shri Aditya Prasad Padhi; Chief Resident Commissioner, Dr. Sunil Kumar Bhargava; Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, Shri Rajesh Verma; Principal Secretary, Industries, Shri Sanjeev Chopra; Chairman & Managing Director, IDCO, Shri Sanjay Singh; Resident Commissioner, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister in his address to the distinguished gathering including business houses, trade & investment bodies and foreign diplomats shared some of the major developments happening in the State. He stated that Odisha is fast emerging as Manufacturing Hub of

Eastern India and provides an ideal business environment for industries and businesses to prosper. Chief Minister mentioned that the natural strength of Odisha lies in being a mineral rich State and therefore during last 18 years the State Government has focused on enhancing production levels of key minerals and value added products, which have led Odisha to become the Aluminium Capital of South Asia and the Steel Hub of the country.  He added that Odisha Government is currently engaged in laying a road map ‘Vision-2030: Development of Downstream & Ancillary in Metal Sector’ with the aim to further vitalise downstream ecosystem of the State.

Chief Minister underlined that Odisha, during last 18 years, has laid significant emphasis on enhancing and strengthening key infrastructure which has resulted in the expansion of cargo handling capacity of Ports by over 10 times and power generation by more than threefold. He informed the delegates that the single user friendly portal ‘Invest Odisha’ launched today will enable the industry to make informed investment decisions by comparing and appreciating the competitiveness of Odisha vis-a-vis other States and countries.

Hon’ble Chief Minister highlighted that the State Government has already exhibited its commitment to deliver projects on ground using the mantra of ‘3 Ts – Teamwork, Technology and Transparency’. Further, the State has launched ‘Skilled in Odisha’ programme for development of Human Capital which is gaining recognition as a global brand. He added that Odisha has a vibrant start-up Ecosystem and the State is poised to be amongst top three Start-Up Hubs of India by 2020.

Concluding his address, Hon’ble Chief Minister informed the delegates that the theme of Make in Odisha Conclave-2018 is ‘I am Odisha’ and invited business houses and investors, both domestic and foreign, to participate in the Make in Odisha Conclave scheduled to be held during November 11 to November 15, 2018 at Bhubaneswar and take advantage of the investment potential the State offers in diverse sectors.

Hon’ble Chief Minister also chaired official level meetings with His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan and the members of Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Embassy officials from Saudi Arabia. He also chaired the official level meetings with business delegates belonging to diverse sectors including electronics, IT & telecommunications, petrochemicals, aerospace & defence, food processing and beverages, textiles & apparel and hospitality.
