Odia Society of Singapore (OSS) celebrated Utkal Dibasa 2018 with grand fanfare in an Odia culture centered extravaganza on the eve of Utkal Dibasa on March 31st at Singpost Auditorium, Paya Lebar.
Eminent Author Padma Shri Dr. Pratibha Ray, Member of Parliament Baijyant Panda, Bolywood Singer cum Composer Krishna Beuraa and Film Actress Anu Chaudhuryjoined the celebration in Singapore.
Annual signature award of the Society ‘Singapore Odia Ratna 2018’ was given to Soumya Ranjan Singh for his contributions to the development of the Odia community in Singapore. The award was presented by Baijayant Panda and Pratibha Ray to Singh.
Students of Taal School of Dance became attraction of the event for their excellent dance performances.
A tribute to Swararabinda late Aravinda Muduli was paid at the beginning of the event to remember his support, contributions and prayers for the Odia community during his Singapore visits for Society events in 2016 and 2017.
President of the community Sambit Kumar Mishra said, “the success of the event has been possible due to the strong passion and commitment the Executive Committee and the Volunteers showcased in preparation and during the event. The success of the event is attributed to the dedication and efforts of our volunteers most of whom have worked behind the scene taking up full responsibilities. This appreciation is a small means to acknowledge their contributions.”
