The first On Shore Co-ordination Committee meeting on security of oil and gas companies in Odisha was held at Police Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on 9.2.2018. Dr. R.P.Sharma, DGP Odisha presided over the meeting in the capacity of Chairman of this On shore Co-ordination Committee. The issues like sharing of information for preventing pilferages, arrest of masterminds and monitoring the activities of habitual oil criminals, confiscation of storage property of oil looters, co-ordination with police of neighbouring States, Nakabandi on roads / toll gates / State borders / check post etc in vulnerable stretches to check documents of oil tankers, constitution of a dedicated task force for co-ordination and analysis of all incidents and information available with various Police Stations across the Districts and Police of neighbouring States etc were discussed in detail.
It was decided unanimously to have regular patrolling as well as periodic joint patrolling of pipe line and nearby vulnerable areas with the assistance of local police. Regular raids by the local police shall be undertaken to stop en-route pilferage of oil tankers at the supply locations. Police patrolling shall be increased by local police at the supply locations. Illegal encroachments shall be removed as and when necessary in and around the supply locations.
DGP Dr. Sharma assured all kinds of support from State Police to prevent pilferages. The meeting was attended by dignitaries from Odisha State Govt., CRPF, SIB and all OMCs (like IOCL, HPCL, BPCL and OMGC). The key note address was given by Convener (OSCC) Mr. B.K.Ravi, Advisor Security, Indian Oil. The nodal officer of OSCC, Odisha Mr. Pitish Bharat, CGM, IOCL, Odisha delivered the welcome address.
