OTV group has entered radio industry in Odisha. It has started its new FM channel in Rourkela. The channel is named as Radio Odisha and is now available on 98.3 FM. By this, number of Private FM stations in Odisha goes up to seven.
Test transmission of the channel has started, this week. As per information, the studio of Radio Odisha is established at Koel Nagar. Satyajeet Mohapatra is in charge of the station as Station Head. He has worked as Station head of Big FM Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
OTV is the number one news channel of Odisha. The group also owns many other satellite and cable tv channels. Along with OTV, Sarthak is also opening its Rourkela FM channel in a month. A few months back Sarthak opened its first FM channel in Cuttack. In phase III private FM bidding both the organizations got FM licenses.
Radio Odisha is going to compete with two existing FM players in Rourkela city. Big FM and Radio Choklate are already in market from 2007.
This is a good news for radio lovers that television companies are now interested in opening radio stations. This is proved in case of OTV and Sarthak. Bidding process of new FM channels has started for other 5 cities of Odisha Puri, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Baleswar and Baripada. Each of the cities will have 3 new FM channels in near future.
