Odisha DGP visits Naxalite areas directs to intensify operations against the left Wing Extremists. Dr R.P.Sharma, DGP, Odisha alongwith Sh. Sunil Roy, Director Intelligence, Sh. R.P.Koche, I.G. of police (Operation), Sh. Asit Panigrahi, I.G. of Police (Crime), Sh. Narasingh Bhol, DIG of police, SIW, Odisha visited the naxalite affected Malkangiri and koraput Districts on Friday. He toured Badapada camp in the cut off area and the security establishments in Malakangiri. He interacted with the members of the State Police and Central Forces to gather first-hand information on the Left Wing Extremism scenario in the Malkangiri district.
He also visited the Gurupriya bridge site and reviewed the security arrangements there. Later during the day at Koraput, he held discussion with the officers of the BSF, CRPF and COBRA and impressed upon them the need to adopt joint co-ordinated efforts to tackle the menance of naxalism. He also interacted with the SsP of South Western Range and directed them to intensify operations against the left Wing Extremists. He also reviewed the progress of the investigation in the case of alleged sexual assault on minor girl at Kunduli. He also reviewed the infrastructural requirements of the up-coming SOG HUB at Koraput.
