CSR of Indian Oil in Magha Mela

Magha Mela has been organized in a grand way at Joranda, Dhenkanal. Joranda Mela is mainly celebrated by a large number of people. Thousands of monks from different corners of India are gathered at Joranda. The five-day Mela every year draws lakhs of devotees from far flung areas across the State of Odisha. At the biggest event of the Mahima sect, devotees from Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other parts of the country would congregate to pay obeisance at the temple. This year the sacred Mela has been kick started on 30th Jan’18 and will be continuing till 3rd Feb’18.

This year for the first time, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has taken various steps to ensure the abhiyan on Swachha Bharat. IndianOil came forward by providing around 20000sq ft. temporary resting sheds, 100 nos. of temporary toilets, medical assistance,  drinking water facility,   generators and slighting system, free first aids etc. IndianOil also deployed security and cleaning personals for the maintenance of the toilets during the mela.

The genesis of this Abhiyan under “Swachh Bharat” lay in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to people in his monthly radio show “Mann Ki Baat” about keeping clean our surroundings so as to keep ourselves healthy thus contributing towards Cleaner and Greener Environment. The promotion of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan through this Joranda Magha Mela is aimed at instilling socio-environmental consciousness among citizens towards the larger aim of cleanliness.
